Transitive bislim geometries of gonality 3, part I: The geometrically homogeneous cases
We consider point–line geometries having three points on every line, having three lines through every point (bislim geometries), and containing triangles. We classify such geometries under the hypothesis of the existence of a collineation group acting transitively on the point set. In the first part of this work, we introduce the local structure at a point and consider some cases where this loc...
متن کاملEpimorphisms of Generalized Polygons Part 1: Geometrical Characterizations
A generalized polygon is a thick incidence geometry of rank 2 such that the girth of the incidence graph is twice the diameter of the incidence graph. These geometries are introduced by Tits [17] for group-theoretical purposes, but became an interesting research object in their own right. For an overview of the geometric study, see [19]. Obviously, the notion of morphism is an important one whe...
متن کاملSome local 1 y
This paper is a continuation of Kantor (4, 6] and Ronan [10]. We will construct finite and infinite 'geometries' admitting flag-transitive groups and having buildings as universal covers. The first building is that of {1+ (6, (Ji2); the remaining ones are new and strange. As in the aforementioned papers, our motivation is the search for finite geometries that strongly resemble buildings, and fo...
متن کاملOn Flag-transitive Anomalous C 3 -geometries
A nite C 3-geometry is called anomalous if it is neither a building nor the A 7-geometry. It is conjectured that no ag-transitive thick anomalous C 3-geometry exists. For a ag-transitive thick anomalous C 3-geometry, we prove that its 2-order y is odd and that its full automorphism group is non-solvable. As a corollary, there are no ag-transitive circular extensions of duals of anomalous C 3-ge...
متن کاملBounding the size of certain rank 3 geometries with designs as rank 2 residues
We consider locally finite geometries of rank 3 belonging to certain diagrams where all strokes represent classes of non-trivial designs, at least one of them consisting of symmetric designs other than projective planes. The gonality diagram of such geometry is of spherical type, whereas the diameter diagram is of affine type. In cases like this, the criteria available from 24 cannot tell us an...
